Booking into class

Adult Group Lessons:

Before beginning Group Lessons the student may be required to complete a test which will be emailed to him/her. This helps FRENCH MOMENTS assess his/her level and place the student in the correct class. Class dates are set in advance and a course covers one term (8 sessions). For other group sessions (such as the French Literary Club), please check the duration when booking.

Adult Private and Semi-Private Lessons:

New students are encouraged to take advantage of the 15 minute Complimentary Session on offer where they can discuss their goals and objectives. This session is offered once to each new student before they commit to Private Lessons. Private Lessons can be booked in blocks of 10 which is the most cost effective option, otherwise for less than 10, lessons can be booked on a casual basis with no minimum commitment at the advertised casual rate. The student is encouraged to commit to a regular schedule so as to guarantee his/her preferred time and the availability of a teacher.

French for Kids and HSC Tuition:

Both Group and Private Lessons are invoiced per term (8 sessions). However, lessons can be booked on a casual basis with no minimum commitment at the advertised casual rate. The student is encouraged to commit to a regular schedule so as to guarantee his/her preferred time and the availability of a teacher. The parent or legal guardian of each student aged under 18 years must complete a Parental Consent Form allowing him/her to enrol in the lesson or course and certifying his/her responsibility for the student. This form also covers any allergies the child might have and whether FRENCH MOMENTS is authorised to provide refreshments to the child in the lesson.

Invoice and payment

Once the student has confirmed their intention to join the course, an invoice will be issued to him/her which outlines the course details and the class schedule. Enrolment in the course is not guaranteed until full payment is made. Full payment is required on receipt of the invoice or at least 7 working days before the first session and will confirm the student’s enrolment. Payment can be made by cheque* in Australian dollars made out to FRENCH MOMENTS, by Electronic Funds Transfer* (BSB: 112 879. Account number: 465 532 470) or by cash (limited to a maximum payment of $800) in person at the FRENCH MOMENTS’ office located at Suite 6, 685 Military Road, Mosman. FRENCH MOMENTS does not offer credit accounts and all monies must be paid in full before commencing the course.

*Please note that any bank charges you may incur are at your expense.

Classes at French Moments

French Teachers:

Each course has an allocated teacher endorsed by FRENCH MOMENTS. Occasionally we may need to assign another teacher either temporarily or permanently. FRENCH MOMENTS reserves the right to reassign another teacher at any given time, in which case no refund or discount will be offered to a student under any circumstance. FRENCH MOMENTS will make sure that the teacher(s) are highly skilled and reflect the commitment of excellence FRENCH MOMENTS has in providing a superior level of service to its students.

Course materials:

Course materials (including books and stationery) will not be provided by FRENCH MOMENTS. However, where a specific book is required, discounted prices may apply by ordering through commercial partners of FRENCH MOMENTS. Most course materials are written by French Moments and are emailed to the students in advance for him/her to print. FRENCH MOMENTS does not provide printed copies of course notes.

Breaks:

For every 90 minute session a 5-10 minute break is incorporated into that time.

Certificates:

No certificates or any other documents confirming academic history or attainment will be provided to the student by FRENCH MOMENTS.

Insurance:

It is expressly stipulated that the personal effects, suitcases, objects, movable property, vehicles and objects of value owned by clients are not guaranteed against theft, loss or damage of any nature or origin whatsoever. The parties therefore agree that FRENCH MOMENTS shall under no circumstances be held liable and that is the responsibility of the student to take out whatever insurance may be deemed necessary to guarantee his/her personal belongings and property made available to him/her. Where students are minors, their parents or legal guardians shall assume all legal liability on their behalf and shall take out full insurance on behalf of such minors if they deem this necessary.

Consumption of food provided by FRENCH MOMENTS:

Food and non-alcoholic beverages may be served during a lesson or session. FRENCH MOMENTS takes no responsibility for any allergic reaction or health problem that might arise from the consumption of any such product. Before any food and non-alcoholic beverages are offered to children under 18 years old, one of the parents or legal guardian must sign the Parental Consent Form.

Mobile phones and media players:

Mobile phones and media players should be switched off for the duration of the lesson or activity unless under exceptional circumstances which should be made known to the French Moments staff member at the beginning of the session.

Products and services designated for commercial purpose:

Any products introduced in the premises of FRENCH MOMENTS which are destined to be sold by a student to the other members of a group are forbidden. However this may not apply to the commercial partners of FRENCH MOMENTS who have been authorised by the Management to do so. Under no circumstances may a student seek to advertise or endorse any products or services or charity to another student whilst on the FRENCH MOMENTS’ premises or off-site event unless permission is given by the management of FRENCH MOMENTS. This includes the handing out of brochures and promotional material.

Endangering or disrupting misconduct:

Any misconduct that could be seen to endanger or seriously disrupt the lesson could lead to the cancellation of the student’s lessons, without any right to obtain a refund.

Attendance and re-scheduling policy

Once enrolled, students are expected to attend class regularly. Under no circumstances may classes be transferred to another student. Students arriving late for a lesson or activity will be permitted to join, however as this can disrupt a session it is in the best interest of the other participants that it occurs rarely. Late arrival by the student does not entitle him/her to a discount, and lost time will be forfeited by the student and not refunded or re-scheduled.

Adult and Kids/HSC Group Lessons:

If the student who is enrolled into a Group Lesson misses a class then he/she forfeits that class.

Adult and Kids/HSC Private and Semi-Private Lessons:

The student is discouraged to change the time of the lesson but FRENCH MOMENTS realises that in rare circumstances the student may need to re-schedule his/her class. In the event that a student needs to re-schedule a lesson or session the request must be made in writing (mail, email) to FRENCH MOMENTS by 12pm one working day prior to the date of the lesson. If space is available the lesson will be re-scheduled within the expiry date of the sessions written on the student’s invoice. No lesson or part there of will be deferred after this date. Any remaining classes, or part of classes not attended by the student by the expiry date written on the invoice will be forfeited and no refund will be due.

Adults lessons: The expiry date written on the invoice is usually based on a further 10 working days from the end of the 10 scheduled sessions. Lessons not taken in this time frame will be forfeited and not refunded. No more than 3 lessons or sessions may be deferred per 10 sessions.

Kids/HSC lessons: No more than 2 lessons or sessions may be deferred per 8 sessions. The 8 sessions must be taken by the end of the current term, otherwise the lesson(s) will be forfeited and not refunded.

Once a lesson or session has been re-scheduled it cannot be changed further. FRENCH MOMENTS will endeavour to assist the student with re-scheduling, however, if it is not possible within the time period to re-schedule the date/time of the lesson or session then it will be forfeited by the student.

Refund policy

FRENCH MOMENTS does not offer refunds or credits once payment has been made and the student is enrolled in class. No classes may be transferred to another student. If the cancellation is a result of a serious illness, hospitalisation or a unique situation, a refund may be approved at the manager’s discretion if the course has not yet started.
