LANGUEDOC-ROUSSILLON

Languedoc-Roussillon borders the French Western side of the Mediterranean sea where sea-resorts such as La Grande Motte, le Cap d’Adge and Sète are found. Inland, the region stretches from the South of the Massif Central (Cévennes) to the Pyrenees, passing by the coastal plain from Nimes to Perpignan, the Western side of the Camargue and the garrigue. It is said to be the largest vine area in Europe.

Nimes hosts some of the best preserved Roman buildings, not too far away from the Roman aqueduct “Pont du Gard”.

The capital city of the region, Montpellier, is a lively, thriving city, and among many interesting monuments, it houses one of the oldest universities in Europe.
