Pierre

Originally from: Nancy, region of Lorraine, France

Lived in: Speyer (Germany), Alsace (France), Paris (France), London (UK), Sydney (Australia).

Favourite places in France: Nancy, Savoie and the Vanoise mountains in the French Alps.

Favourite French dish: it has to be home-made French fries and delicious French patisserie!

Favourite French cheese: Reblochon.

Favourite French singer: this is a difficult question... maybe Patrick Fiori and Yannick Noah?

Favourite French topics: history, architecture, current affairs, and hiking in the Alps.

Teaching experience: French teacher in various North Shore schools in Sydney, and prestigious language schools in Paris and London. BTS* teacher in Mulhouse, Alsace and Paris. (*BTS is a 2 year post-HSC course)

Qualifications: NAATI accredited translator (english->french). Pierre holds a Master of Translating and Interpreting English-French with the degree of Master of International Relations from Macquarie University, Sydney and a degree of Economics and Management from Mulhouse University.

Role: manager of French Moments and in addition to his teaching activities, also provides Travel Advice for visitors to France.

Rachel

Originally from: Portsmouth, England

Lived in: Alsace (France), Paris (France), London (UK), Sydney (Australia).

Favourite places in France: Paris, Savoie and Périgord (anywhere with mountains or beautiful chateaux and good cafés!).

Favourite French dish: that’s a hard one! Maybe confit de canard with braised red cabbage and potatoes... Crème brulée for dessert and a macaron from La Durée for afternoon tea (see Gourmet Paris).

Favourite French cheese: Beaufort or a local goats cheese.

Favourite French singer: maybe Chimène Badi and I admire Faudel for his creativity.

Favourite French topics: gastronomy, home decor “l’art de vivre”!, music and singing.

Teaching experience: English teacher in a language institute in Mulhouse. Vast professional experience in Paris, London and Sydney both in English and French.

Role: oversees the English courses for French speakers, as well as the cultural events side of French Moments, marketing and the organisation of the Trips to France.

Lessons take place at our French Moments CENTRE in Mosman, NSW 2088.
